LAND RECORD GUIDE

Choose the right land record for a village or town

The right record depends on the official survey system, not the familiar locality or postal name.

01

Direct answer

For rural or Natham land, start with the Patta or Chitta, A-Register and FMB services. For town survey land, TSLR extract and sketch matter. Confirm the system before searching.

02

Where this record applies

  • Use this guide before opening a record when the property is described by both a locality and an official village or town-survey identity.
  • Nagercoil district records include named towns and revenue villages. A familiar town name does not by itself identify the exact record type.

03

What the record usually shows

  • Rural or Natham route: Patta / Chitta
  • Rural or Natham route: A-Register extract
  • Rural or Natham route: FMB sketch
  • Town survey route: TSLR extract
  • Town survey route: TSLR sketch
  • Office support: VAO, taluk revenue office and taluk survey or town-survey section

04

What to compare it with

  • Administrative identity in the deed
  • Revenue village or town name
  • Survey or town-survey number
  • Subdivision and extent
  • Record offered by the seller
  • Current official portal route

05

Check it step by step

Keep the property identity, source and date with every result.

  1. Read the complete deed schedule

Write the district, taluk, village or town, survey system, number, subdivision and extent.

  2. Check the district administrative list

Separate the postal locality from the official revenue village or town identity.

  3. Open Tamil Nadu land e-Services

Review the rural / Natham and urban TSLR services without forcing a result.

  4. Ask which survey system applies

Use the VAO, taluk office and survey section when the deed uses old or mixed identifiers.

  5. Choose the matching record family

Use Patta, Chitta, A-Register and FMB for applicable rural records, or TSLR for applicable town survey records.

  6. Compare names and identifiers

Stop when the holder, survey, subdivision or extent does not match.

  7. Record the decision

Save the official source, date, record type and office answer with the property file.

07

What this record does not prove

  • The selected land record does not prove title.
  • A municipal limit or postal address does not automatically decide the survey record.
  • An online no-result does not prove that no record exists.
  • Record type does not replace a ground survey, EC, approvals or legal review.

08

Stop on these mismatches

  • Seller provides Patta but the land is in town survey
  • Seller provides TSLR for another town, ward or block
  • Deed village differs from the portal selection
  • Old and current survey systems are not linked
  • Name, subdivision or extent differs after the correct record is found

COMMON QUESTIONS

Choose the right land record for a village or town FAQs

One land record is not a complete property verification.

Which records apply in a village?

For applicable rural or Natham land, begin with the current Patta or Chitta, A-Register and FMB services.

Which record applies in Nagercoil town?

Confirm the exact survey system. TSLR matters in town survey areas, but do not decide from the postal address alone.

Who can confirm the record type?

Ask the VAO, correct taluk revenue office and taluk survey or town-survey section with the deed identity.

KEEP THE CHECK CONNECTED

Use the record with the next property check

A single paper or portal result is not enough. Keep the owner, land, approval and payment checks connected.
