Written agreement
Record the parties, premises, permitted use, term, rent, deposit, increases, utilities, repairs, entry, notices, renewal, termination and handover in clear language.
Rent Authority registration
The official FAQ states that agreements executed after commencement should be registered with the Rent Authority within 90 days. Apply through the official portal and retain the issued certificate.
Separate registrations
Rent Authority registration is independent of any registration required with the jurisdictional Sub-Registrar under the Registration Act. Obtain property-specific advice on both routes.
Renewal and closure
The official FAQ treats renewal as a new tenancy requiring registration and states that expiry or termination should be reported to the Rent Authority in the prescribed form within 15 days.
